Could a Food Lovers Diet Make Its Way to Reality TV?

By Rob Sutter

As sad as it may be coming from me, I actually do enjoy reality TV quite a bit. Yes, I understand that it's quite possibly the lowest form of entertainment you can find on television but sometimes that's the joy of it all. Like a train wreck, it's difficult to witness but somehow you cannot pry your eyes away from it. Part of why I can't seem to deviate my eyes from the screen is because of how these people treat their bodies and I think a food lovers diet should be used for them.

Just the idea of a food lovers diet should be able to spur the interest of just about anyone looking to get in shape. When it comes to eating as much food as possible, with value of course, shouldn't it be something that is utilized more frequently? It's not like people are helpless, either, since companies such as Quorn make recipes that can be created in short spans of time. It's surprising that the world of reality TV hasn't embraced this because I could name a few characters on TV that leave me wanting to recommend the plan to.

If you pride yourself on being a reality TV viewer, especially during 2007 or so, there's a good chance that New York had come across your radar. This woman could have typically been seen on VH1, yelling at other girls in a catty manner and even scrapping with some of the men who were trying to win her heart. Despite her popularity, I couldn't help but notice her inclination to smoke constantly and eat disgusting food without any stop in sight. She had a slender figure but sometimes looks don't account for everything.

For those who are vying for a recent instance, though, Honey Boo Boo and her family, led by Mama June, certainly does the trick. Alana Thompson is a child who debuted on "Toddlers & Tiaras" and has spurred a career for himself that was bigger than the show she first appeared on. Anyone who sees the family now, though, can see that it doesn't care for itself much. The "Go Go Juice" that her mom feeds her is half Mountain Dew and half Red Bull. You can clearly see the issue, can't you?

This "Go Go Juice" supposedly has as much caffeine as two cups of coffee; keep in mind that this young girl drinks this concoction. I'm against the view that a child should have any sort of energy drink in his or her diet so this left be absolutely gobsmacked. Why is it that these people have such problems taking care of themselves when they know fully well that the public eye is on them all the time? I feel like if they want to present a good image, a food lovers diet may just be the most accessible for them.
