What CausesChocolate Addiction - Are They Valid??

By Dudley Gantt

Chocolate has always been one of the most well-liked foods known, equally with men and gals. With chocolate boutiques sprinkled throughout the country, it's not surprising that the popularity of this delectable candy continues to get bigger.. However, as chocolate's popularity and people's cravings for it continue to rise, the opinion of having a chocolate addiction abruptly occurs in some. This may bring about worry or apprehension, as many believe a lot can have an effect on one's health. That leads us to our question: is chocolate addiction real or not? Let's examine the matter in more detail.

What Could Cause Chocolate Addiction?

Chocolate contains some ingredients that may produce effects similar to addictive drugs, the two most notable ones being:

Caffeine

The quantity of caffeine in chocolate varies by type. As an example, milk chocolate has comparatively minimal caffeine content in comparison with special dark chocolate. Caffeine generally acts as a stimulant, helping to temporarily ward off sleepiness and restoring alertness. It is considered addictive by many within the scientific community, but the jury's still out.

Theobromine

Theobromine is a substance that is present in cacao beans. All the same it can be found in tea and cola, it comes in larger amounts in chocolate. Similar to caffeine, Theobromine may cause sleeplessness and anxiety. There is often a misconception that Theobromine is harmful to humans. The reality is it is actually used within the remedial community in safe doses for many different ailments. Larger doses however, could be considered unsafe but the quantity within chocolate falls greatly below those levels.

Consumption of chocolate can be known to increase the release of endorphins and serotonin. What are they and how do they influence those who devour chocolate? * Endorphin---a neurotransmitter produced during various activities such as exercise, sex, plus eating particular foods (e.g., chocolate), endorphins bring pain relief and a sense of happiness or well-being. * Serotonin---another neurotransmitter produced by our bodies, serotonin assists in developing positive moods, good emotional health, and proper sleep along with others.

These chemicals and others are released through moments of pleasure, and eating chocolate for most is one of those times. This unsurprisingly causes one to desire more, in this case, more chocolate.

Conclusions Concerning Chocolate Addiction While caffeine and theobromine could cause a kind of dependence on chocolates and generate effects such as mood swings, it needs to be noted that they don't come in very big quantities. It's expressly true when we take into account the fact that people generally don't buy bulk chocolate and devour it. This also holds true for serotonin and endorphins

Addiction is a tough notion to measure and come to a definitive conclusion - particularly when it comes to eating chocolate. One must ask if the recurring behavior is leading to damaging effects in other areas of one's life. This is after all, the definition of addiction.

Contrasting with alcohol and drugs, eating chocolate does not cause any direct, harmful consequences. Neither its ingredients nor the chemical compounds it releases give off negative effects on the human body. So what is often considered chocolate addiction by the uninformed is simple to explain as a craving for the pleasure and taste of this sweet substance. So, if you crave the delicacy, go ahead and buy some at any chocolate boutique or store you can find. Eat and enjoy!
