The Sandwiches To Enjoy Are Those That You Make

By Helge Vang Andersen

No matter where you go in the world, people have something that is almost like a sandwich. It might be some meat or veggies in between two pieces of Matzos or in a Pita. The fact is, the sandwiches are a widely popular type of lunch food in America.

Traditionally, a sandwich is composed of two slices of bread, sometimes three or more for those Dagwood constructions, with meat and various other ingredients placed between them. The different types of bread, meat, condiments and veggies are where all of the variations come from. This is where the imagination is given license to soar.

Wheat, white, potato, oatmeal and all of the others are all fine for a sandwich. Many people use a bagel, others swear by hoagy rolls, still others will opt for home made bread. Pumpernickel and other colors, sizes and shapes will contribute to a wonderful dining experience.

Meats, of just about any kind are in the recipe list as well. Roast beef, ham, chicken, turkey will be just a very few of the many people will have in their creations. Many of them will be placed inside the bread together for that unique taste. Pepperoni, bacon and many other items in this category can be included and no one can say they do not.

The many different condiments, such as mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup and vinegar are all on the counter when the average sandwich maker gets going. Spicy sauces and regional blends will be there as well. All show their faces and be welcomed. The pickles, lettuce, onions and the many different peppers are also part of the sandwich makers dance.

No matter what is happening in the world, a sandwich is something that can be taken in hand and enjoyed by all. Personal tastes can be explored and nothing is forbidden. Since sandwiches are a widely popular type of lunch food, the diner is never out of synch with anyone else.
