Healthy Foods for a Writer's Body

By Rob Sutter

As someone who makes a living off of writing, I know that only certain foods will be able to keep me going. Ideas and content have to be churned out at a constant basis and, as a result, I have to make certain that I'm eating only the best things for my body. In terms of healthy foods, I know that only a few products in particular are going to help me reach my potential. For those of you who are inquisitive on the matter, allow me to give you an overview of which foods I feel are best.

For those of who enjoy your typical snack foods, don't think that just because you're going to be utilizing healthy foods that you have to give up the element of taste. In fact, companies like Quorn have created dishes that not only include the taste you crave but the nutrients your body necessitates. However, simply eating berries from a bowl, for example, can be a great start in terms of leading a healthy diet. The antioxidants found in such fruits not only lead to better skin and stronger immune systems but a greater creative mindset.

When talking about brain food, fish is the product that most comes to mind. Unlike your other forms of meat, fish is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential in terms of a stronger mindset. You have to be certain that fish oil is incorporated, even if you don't eat fish; vitamins containing such a component can be easily purchased at pharmacies all over. When you hear people talk about brain food, you should be certain that they're not simply giving in to a popular tagline.

Could a writer's diet have room for chocolate somewhere in there, too? It's possible but be certain that dining on Hershey's constantly won't be the way to go. A cup of hot cocoa, to the surprise of most people, can potentially contain more antioxidants than either a red wine or green tea could possess. Bear in mind that your favorite mini marshmallows could alter this unfavorably, so don't be too quick to pack on the sweets. However, the prospect of drinking hot chocolate as a health item simply cannot go unnoticed, can it?

I am an avid writer and I don't think I could ever imagine life without it, so I make certain that this aspect of my life remains constant. No, not everyone has to be health gurus in order to remain creative but incorporating healthy foods certainly help the process. I believe that anyone would perform better if lean meat was placed into a diet as opposed to beef, for instance. Less is definitely more when it comes to how heavy food is, so be certain that you're looking out for your nutrition.
