Great Ideas For Seasonal Weddings And The Wedding Menu

By Linda Ruiz

Every one dreams of the perfect wedding day and to make that happen you should know which foods fit in with your season of choice. The wedding menu is a very important part of your special day and should be full of foods that people will feel match the seasonal theme. Catering your wedding takes a lot of the stress off of both of you, and will also help you in some of these menu decisions. From spring, summer, fall and winter the food needs to be consistent with each season as well as the drinks you will be serving.

For a beautiful spring-time event you can decorate with the seasons most exquisite flowers and use pastels such as pale pinks, lavender, blues and yellows. Two favorite flowers are daffodils and tulips for this time of the year. The menu should include refreshing food and drinks. The cake should also be in pastel colors and in a flavor like lemon, coconut, or strawberry with light butter-cream whipped frosting and filled with fresh fruit that corresponds to the actual flavor.

For spring drinks incorporate Bellini's and daiquiri's for the adults at your reception and for the non-alcoholic libations lemonade and sweet tea. For salad options choose crisp baby greens and fresh tomatoes and other vegetables. For the main entree the perfect choices are seafood especially when getting married in Boston Ma., where fish and crustaceans are abundant.

If you are planning your event in Fall, pumpkins and lovely fallen leaves in burnished orange, golds and browns will be spectacular for decorating ideas. The menu should consist of hardy foods and drinks. A favorite appetizing starter would be a bisque soup served in hollowed out small pumpkins and smoked salmon on the side.

You can choose juicy steak filet, chicken roasted, or a nice savory filet of tuna or favorite fish. The sides should include vegetables harvested this time of the year and for desserts like apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a scoop or two of coffee ice cream on top. The cake for the bride and groom can be a luxurious dark chocolate.

Fall drinks like spiced apple cider and darker red wines. Now if you choose and fabulous winter wonderland event for your big day the colors can be silver and glittering blues, gold and silver or the traditional red and green and you can combine any of these as well to make a lovely decor. The menu should be warm and inviting to take the chill off.

For the cocktails delightful hot chocolate with whipped cream can be kicked up a notch for adults by the addition of marshmallow vodka, this will warm all of your guests up. The cake flavors that work excellent for winter are red velvet with a German chocolate filling and frosted in a red and green or silver and gold basket weave pattern or a decadent dark chocolate cake filled with salted caramel and caramel butter-cream frosting.

For the bride and groom cake a nice spiced caramel with a frosting of butter-cream or a dark velvety chocolate orange delight frosted and filled with dark chocolate and decorated with orange flakes and flowers. Just remember that whatever theme or season you choose the menu should be reflected with foods which match them and your wedding will day will be a dream come true.
