Black Bean Beef Chili Recipe

By Amanda Sanders

There are so many great recipes you can enjoy in, but sometimes you simply have not enough time to prepare some of them. So, here you will find one black bean beef chili recipe you can prepare in one hour or so, and another one, that takes more time to prepare, but it's worth it. You won't be disappointed with either.

Ingredients: two medium size onions, chopped, four cloves garlic, chopped, 1 sweet pepper chopped, four slices of smoked bacon, 1 pound ground beef, 1 can black beans, 2 cans crushed tomatoes, 2 teaspoons chili powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 tablespoon paprika powder, 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa, half of a can of a beef broth, olive oil, red pepper and salt.

First, you need a large pan, half of a total amount of olive oil and bacon and garlic. Brown the bacon, add garlic and then remove these ingredients from your pan. Add the rest of the oil, add onions and cook until soft. After that, add chopped sweet peppers and salt and cook for another few minutes. Now you can add ground beef, cook for ten minutes and add other ingredients, including fried bacon and garlic.

When the meat is soft, add spices and cook for another few minutes, and it is done. Taste your dish and add more spices if you think it is necessary. You can serve it with toasted bread or tortillas, with fresh salad or vegetables, or simply in a bowl, with grated cheese and sour cream, depending on your personal taste.

Preparing the same dish in your slow cooker requires more time, but it tastes simply great this way. If you prepare larger quantity, you can put it into your freezer and serve whenever you feel like it. This recipe is equally simple, it just takes more time to cook. It is great for various gatherings and quite hot, but you probably expect it to be hot anyway.

For this tasty slow cooker chili you will need three to four onions, depending on their size, two larger carrots, maybe six or seven garlic cloves, six slices of good smoked bacon, two pounds of diced beef, one green and one red chopped sweet peppers, one whole can of good broth, olive oil, cumin, oregano and cocoa powder, unsweetened, one teaspoon each, one tablespoon smoked paprika and three teaspoons of chili powder, salt, pepper, two cans of black beans, three cans tomatoes and a spoon of good red wine.

Start with a large pan, olive oil and chopped onions. They should be well fried and soft, before adding carrots, garlic and sweet peppers. Cook for a while and add meat and bacon. Cook for approximately ten minutes and add all other ingredients, including spices. Place this mixture into the slow cooker and cook for another two hours, or until done.

Here is a little additional dish you can make using the leftovers. Put some olive oil in a pan, add chili, cover with canned crushed tomatoes, sour cream and grated hard cheese. Bake in preheated oven for up to forty minutes, and it is done. Serve with mash potato, salad or various vegetables and enjoy.
