Nutritious, Easy And Healthy Recipes

By Mary Harris

Living fuller lives has become a priority for many people these days. More and more people are getting into the habit of eating well and exercising. Unfortunately, the fast paced nature of the modern world is making this difficult for many. This is why easy and healthy recipes have become so important.

Most nutritionists and dietitians will agree that excessive consumption of meats and processed food items is not a good idea for persons who want to maintain good health. They often support diets that are balanced and contain little to no meats or processed foods. Unfortunately, many people still consume a diet that is dominated by fast foods. This happens because they think that the healthier alternatives are too difficult and time consuming to access.

One popular option for those who seek to eat healthy is the vegan recipe. Since the vegan diet excludes not only meats but also all forms of foods from animals and even fish, a recipe that adheres to this diet will include certain ingredients. Vegan meals are more restricted since they do not include any foods from animals. Vegans replace foods like cow's milk with vegan friendly alternatives like rice milk or almond milk. That way they do not miss out on the nutritional benefits of the foods they have chosen to eliminate from their diets.

Many people look to a vegetarian recipe when seeking a meal preparation plan that is ideal for health. This type of meal plan typically includes a lot of vegetables and fruits along with a limited amount of foods from animals such as milk, fish and cheese. The vegetarian diet is also considered health friendly by nutritionists.

The difficulty with maintaining these types of diets lies with the length of time that it takes to prepare these meals. Pre-cooking activities such as seasoning and marinating are both time consuming and complicated for many. The actual cooking processes like baking, broiling and steaming are also time consuming.

The good news though, is that not all healthy meals require complicated and time consuming processes. This is especially true for those recipes that require little or no cooking. Juices for instance, can be created in a matter of minutes and sometimes seconds, depending on the amount of ingredients being used. Quite often, all that is required is a juice extractor and a blender.

Another option for those who seek simple methods for preparing healthy meals is salads. One easy to prepare salad is the tossed salad. It comprises bits of washed vegetable, such as lettuce carrots and cabbage, mixed with other ingredients like raisins and nuts. For variety, the tossed salad may be mixed with various flavour enhancers, but when the luxury of time is not available a simple recipe will have to suffice.

Of course maintaining optimum health means adjusting more that just diet. Physical activity and rest are other crucial elements of a healthy lifestyle. Anyone who takes on the goal of achieving optimum health must take all three factors, diet, rest and exercise into consideration.
